As an EAP participant, you will have access to a Masters-level account executive who can assist your organization in times of crisis. On-site crisis response services are included as a standard component in all our comprehensive EAP packages, at no additional charge.

Offer immediate guidance

DO

  • Get adequate rest.
  • Maintain a good diet and exercise.
  • Be good to yourself and schedule time for leisure activities.
  • Try to maintain your regular schedule, but recognize you may not always follow through.
  • Share your feelings with friends and family members who can be supportive.
  • Remember that it’s normal for the event to preoccupy your mind.
  • Contact your EAP if you’d like additional support or information about trauma.

DON’T

  • Abuse alcohol or drugs to block out painful memories.
  • Isolate yourself from friends, co-workers, and family.
  • Stay away from work.
  • Set a timeline for recovery.
  • Expect a complex problem to have a simple solution.
  • Make major life changes or decisions while you’re recovering.
  • Be hard on yourself or others.
