CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Advocate Health has been named to Parity.Org’s 2024 ParityLIST™, a program recognizing organizations that have policies, benefits and programs to ensure equal advancement opportunities in the workplace. While Atrium Health hospitals in the system’s Southeast region have been recognized by the program in the past, this year marks the first time the entire Advocate Health enterprise is being honored.
The ParityLIST program identifies companies that are creating the culture and conditions where underrepresented groups can rise. To be considered, each company completed a comprehensive assessment covering recruiting, promotion and compensation practices, as well as shared their specific employee benefits and policies that help to eliminate barriers to advancement.
Advocate Health is among 37 companies named in the 2024 list. Honorees include national brands such as Best Buy, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren and PepsiCo.
“The vast majority of today’s leaders and workers believe that everyone deserves an equal shot at success,” said Dina Schenk, president of Parity.Org. “But creating that truly level playing field requires sustained intentionality, discipline and hard work. It’s inspiring to see so many organizations doing what it takes to fulfill the ideal of equal opportunity.”
Advocate Health maintains a commitment to building and implementing intentional strategies and tactics that can advance its diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) goal of achieving transformative equity in health care among its leaders, teammates, learners and community.
“Our DEI strategy is anchored in the delivery of safe, consistent and equitable health outcomes and experiences for all,” explained Kinneil Coltman, executive vice president and chief community and social impact officer for Advocate Health. “We believe that leveling the playing field drives inclusion, which fuels the well-being of those we serve. Our robust DEI engagement ecosystem fosters inclusion and a culture of belonging, trust, innovation, teamwork and improved decision-making. This contributes to enhanced patient satisfaction and teammate engagement scores.”
Advocate Health is dedicated to inclusivity and diversity, as well as unlimited growth opportunities for its teammates. In order to maintain its vibrant and engaged workforce, Advocate Health recently created a series of transformative programs and initiatives reflecting its commitment to the well-being and satisfaction of teammates, including a teammate engagement taskforce to activate Voice of the Teammate (a Southeast region listening strategy that had been shown to boost engagement) across the 69-hospital health system and affiliated offices and clinics, which includes feedback from teammates through engagement surveys and onboarding and exit surveys.
Advocate Health also recently had 45 hospitals named to the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2024 Healthcare Equality Index as well as named to Newsweek’s annual Top 100 “Most Loved Workplaces."
