Superior Ambulance's generous gift will support programs and resources that will disrupt the root causes of health inequalities.

Superior Ambulance has committed a multi-year gift to Advocate Health Care and Aurora Health Care to support programs and resources that will disrupt the root causes of health inequalities. This gift over the next five years will support initiatives aimed at addressing the underlying causes of health disparities, with the goal of improving health outcomes and enabling more patients to live fully.

“Superior, Advocate Health Care and Aurora Health Care have been partners for over 30 years,” says David B. Hill III, Chief Executive Officer for Superior Ambulance. “Superior’s efforts and commitment in addressing health inequities in the geographic areas we service aligns with that of Advocate Health and Aurora Health. Superior believes in giving back to the communities we serve and for more than a decade we have been providing career opportunities in areas where jobs and training are scarce.”

Over the past three decades, Superior has donated more than $1.3 million to fund priority projects that address complex health factors beyond the scope of ambulance or emergency room care.

Ensuring medical personnel receive state-of-the-art training to effectively handle medical emergencies, Superior was one of several donors who collectively made it possible for an ambulance simulator installation at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital

Additionally, Superior has enabled the hiring of more community health workers who screen frequent emergency department patients for social determinants of health, and then connect those patients with wraparound services - including medical care, as well as resources to address issues like food insecurity, transportation and child/elder care.

Superior Ambulance has been a steadfast supporter of educational initiatives for nurses, including specialized training to care for survivors of sexual and domestic violence. This organization has also generously funded Advocate Children's Hospital Golf Classic, which raises funds benefitting critical resources for pediatric staff development in areas like nursing education, evidence-based practices and de-escalation techniques.

This year, Superior's continued support will enable Advocate Health and Aurora Health to address pressing gaps and inequities faced by patients and communities in Illinois and Wisconsin. The funding will go toward initiatives tackling food insecurity, expanding access to specialty care and implementing innovative virtual care solutions.
