Traditions like sharing a holiday meal are key to strengthening the bonds that hold families together. Because of the generosity of donors like you – and with the support of our volunteers and community partners – Aurora Family Service’s Family to Family Thanksgiving has helped thousands of families in Milwaukee celebrate Thanksgiving together since 1996.

“Doing for others should be our mission in life. The community needs our help, and we are called to serve,” said Dee McCollum, manager of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center, which has distributed meals to families for more than a decade. “Every year the meals provided by Aurora Family Service are appreciated by many who are less fortunate than we are.”

In honor of the program’s 25th anniversary, 4,000 local families will receive vouchers to shop for fresh Thanksgiving ingredients so they can prepare and share a holiday meal together. That’s 900 more than last year! But we can’t do it without the generosity of donors like you.

“Due to the pandemic, our parishioners weren’t expecting much last year. They were overwhelmed with gratitude when they received these vouchers,” said Sherlon Rayford, administrator of Community Baptist Church of Greater Milwaukee, an Aurora Family Service partner since 2007. “And they were pleasantly surprised when they learned they’d be able to shop for themselves. It was a wonderful blessing to many.”
